My Life as an eLearner
I came to the career as an eLearning developer through a mishmash of methods, as I have found is really a pretty common case. I started with my career in the traditional K-12 classroom and tinkering with incorporating computers in general more and more. I earned my masters through an online program, which led to a transition to a corporate job.
Subsequently, I left the setting, but kept the job as a corporate telecommuter.
It has been a journey of greater isolation, moving from a crazed high school filled with kids, emotions and no time to think, to a pretty quiet "cube farm", to a desk by myself in a utility room.
Those experiences, and my slow isolation helps frame the true value of communication. To really achieve, you need to share, get thoughts out, and to reach out to others who find themselves in the same boat. Through the process, share what you know and think, and learn a lot along the way.
Where to Blog?
I would like to think I'll keep this blog updated regularly and with only eLearning based ideas, but who knows what the future holds. I have attempted different blog sites before, some on blogger, and a few small attempts on WordPress. For now, I like the simplicity of getting started on Blogger where much is pre-laid out. WordPress is a great and powerful tool, but I have found what keeps me back from using it is fear of too much customization. Hopefully I can start, the thoughts will flow and this will be the first of many. My background has shown dabbling in programming, but nothing concrete to allow me to really make a cool custom site. We will see how this page evolves, though I love the updates since the last blog I did in grad school (all of 5 years ago)
Thank you for reading this far, and hope you enjoy the journey with me!
